Hanuman Mandir - This location is generally covered by short half a day trip. The city of Kalimpong is shaped like a boomerang on the slopes of two continuous hills running from the west to the north - east. In the north-east wing is Deolo Hill. It is a large plateau with dry landscaped open lawns with conifers around its edges and a beautiful well maintained lawn and garden. It is situated on higher altitude than the rest of the town; hence there is an awesome view of the Teesta Valley on one side, the Sikkim hills on the other and Kalimpong town itself. The region surrounding Deollo is a birding site and next to it is the Hanuman temple - a large statue of Hanuman upon a little hillock and the Army Golf course. Sherpa Taar popularly known as the Sherpa View Point on the way to Deolo hill is a watershed from where you view the mountains descending to the hills and river valleys below. In the southern side is the Relli river valley, Kafer and the hills of Samthar plateau. In the North is the view of the small state Sikkim and the Kanchendzonga peak. Hanuman Mandir has recently been constructed with a gigantic statue of Lord Hanuman and close to it is the Durga Mandir or the Hindu temple. Another place of worship is the impressive statue of Lord Buddha in the lotus position has been consecrated with a landscaped rock garden in front. All this places are nice places to take photographs.
