Tea Tourism 

At present, there are nearly 825 large tea gardens and over 66,000 small tea growers in Assam producing nearly 20% of the total tea production in India. Tourism in Assam has contributed to a new and unique phase in the history of Assam Tea. Nagaland does not have too many but there are some in the areas bordering Assam in the Mon district bordering Sivasagar. Tea estates in Meghalaya is in East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi districts, i.e. not far from Shillong, Mawlyngot is one of them and one can combine it with visits to Shillong and Laitlum. Tripura has tea estates and some of them also have tourist lodges. The most famous one is the Durga Bari Tea Estate near Agartala which one can combine with visits to Agartala, Melaghar, as well as Unakoti. Manipur has Nillai Tea Estate located near Talui, the second largest town of the district, and Ukhrul with other attractions such as treks, caves, and cultural tours. Bettybari tea tourism bungalow, Melamora Eco-Tea Tourism Centre, Addabarie Tea Estate, Mancotta Heritage Tea Bungalow & Chowkidinghee Heritage Tea Bungalow in Dibrugarh, Wathai Heritage Tea Bungalow, Tocklai Guest House, a heritage building, is a prime attraction, Kaziranga Golf Resort (Bura Sahib bungalow), Banyan Grove and Thengal Manor bungalow in Jorhat district,

Upper Assam districts of Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Jorhat, Sonitpur, etc have colonial-style Tea Bungalow. The region is known for black Tea or CTC & Green Tea. Guests can stay and enjoy the tea manufacturing i.e. processing of tea along with the wildlife which surrounds the region. Flora and fauna is another option along with historical sites along with Golf & wildlife. Other than Tea Tourism one can also learn to cook the local dishes or learn the agricultural practice, birding and angling or just go for a short trek. Some of our guests have stayed for three days and extended it for a couple of days just to participate in their festival celebration. Guest returns to the same place again and again. Sophistication is mixed with warmth and hospitality. There are various tribes in this region and it is also an activity to visit the local villages to know about their way of living. Totopara is one such village. Gajoldoba is one more site to enjoy which is situated close to Siliguri and can be a nice transit stay while starting or ending the tour package.
