Okhrey - Okhrey is 130 kilometers from Siliguri and the route is via Jorethang. Okhrey is a place on the route to Varsey and is one of the most popular trekking trails in Sikkim There is regular jeep service from Jorethang but are few in numbers. The journey takes nearly an hour. Since the spot is up coming and for those who want to stay away from mass tourism destinations, it is always very serene and isolated from the rest of the site. The village is not a regular stop for tourists and the only place to stay is a Sherpa lodge run by a local family and few hut.  The mountains that tower on the north keep beckoning the traveler for long rambling walks through winding paths. If guest venture out, one might come across a missionary school or a small hamlet or a few cottage with the owner roaming outside. If you are interested in a bit of trekking or if one can climb up the slope to a small village called Latitar. On a clear day, tourist can get a grand view of the entire Kanchendzonga range. Ugen Thon Meon Ling monastery is a place worth visiting. It is run by Tibetan missionaries and has a small school attached to it like any other monastery of Sikkim. There is a few interesting short trek route is a walk up to Ribdi on the West Bengal border. One can proceed further down through the jungles of Rammam to Rimbik a small settlement worth staying. For more adventurous or seasoned trekkers there is the popular route from Okhrey that leads all the way to Phalut via Gurdung. Not to mention Hilley a destination only 10 kilometers from Okhrey is also has a beauty of its own. The rhododendron zone begins from here. This is a small village in South Sikkim. Okhrey is just diagonally opposite to Srikhola, which falls while returning from Sandakphu. On April the blooming season for rhododendrons, orchids, primulas, aconytes, foxgloves & bluebells one can well imagine the beauty of the unexplored valley of flowers.
