Makaibari Tea Garden – This tea estate is of a different class. Visitors here have the choice to stay at the heritage Stone Lodge or they can stay in any of the 20-25 houses of tea-garden workers close to nature and the community. In Makaibari, all activities are managed by locals. Rivers & streams, gushing and gurgling and diversified flora and the fauna are all reasons to visit these nice destinations. The revenues from tourists go to the villagers. Options range from visiting the tea-factory, horse-riding and bird-watching. It is home to many of the Indian birds and a delight for people who like to get up in the morning to the sound of chirping birds. In addition, they can also get a feel of a restored Darjeeling Himalayan Railway engine. All these tea - estates are on motor able roads linking all the major tourist destinations of the region. Tea tourism or home stay both the options are available here.Lovely tea gardens along the mountain slopes, forests with many different flora & fauna, quaint villages and so on attracts tourist. And expectedly, there are many view points, tea estates, temples & churches, museums, as well as famous historic schools that were setup during the British colonial days. One can easily spend two to three days in Kurseong and remain immersed with its attractions. There are plenty of local taxis available near the station and market area all of who will be willing to take you for local sightseeing tours. There are half day and full day local tours depending on what you want to cover.

Communication

One can reach from Bagdogra Airport (IXB) / New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Siliguri Bus Terminus (Junction) or Siliguri and from there the resort is approximately 40 kilometers and is nearly 01 - 02 hours drive. The drive preferably will be via Garidhura Rohini rosd or Pankhabari Road. There are regular trains to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) from all over India on daily basis. Flights also are regular to Bagdogra Airport (IXB). Private Vehicle s are available for all transfer.
