Over view: Buxa Tiger Reserve lies in the north-east corner of West Bengal and is contiguous with the forests of Greater Manas Sanctuary, the buffer zone of Manas Tiger Reserve of Assam, and other Reserve Forest areas along the Indo-Bhutanese border. Most of the reserve lies in the plains; only the northern tracts are hilly and the northern boundary follows the Bhutan border. There is continuous forest from the plains to nearly 2,000 meters at the border, and forest cover probably continues to the 4,066 meters Tale La in Bhutan.

Itinerary of Rupang Valley 03 Nights & 04 Days: Bhuttabari (Bagdogra) near Bagdogra Airport [IXB] – Buxa – Oumchupani [Tashigaon Village] – Lepchakha [Near Buxa] – Bhuttabari (Bagdogra) near Bagdogra Airport [IXB]  

Day – 01 – Received from Alipurduar Junction / New Alipurduar Station & transfer to Santrabari by a car – It is nearly 13 kilometers from Rajabhatkhawa and 24 kilometers from Alipurduar It is nearly 170 kilometers from Siliguri Stay at Santra Barie Rajabhatkhawa – Leave your vehicle at Santrabari and start trek for Buxaduar (45 minutes) – Visit the historical Buxa Fort, Museum, and Heritage Post Office – Overnight stay in a Home stay at Buxa Fort ground 

Day – 02 – Early morning starting trekking for Rupang Valley via Rovers’ Point – Visit the Tashigang Goempa after lunch and move forwards for your destination leaving your tents at Oumchupani (near the village Goth) for night stay – It is nearly 06 kilometers to Rovers point and further 02 kilometers to Oomchupani – Trek to Rupang Valley or Pam Tsey La which is further 06 kilometers – Trek down to Tashigang via Rovers Point – Enjoy the beauty of Rupang Valley for a while and trek down to your camp

Day – 03 – Do not forget to spend sometimes for Birding before breakfast and then trek down to Buxaduar – Visit Lapchakha village of Dukpas after lunch and witness a mesmerizing Sunset before coming back to your home stay in Buxa Fort ground – Overnight stay at Buxa  

Day – 04 – After breakfast trek down to Santrabari, boarded on your vehicle and move to Jainti National Park – Transfer to Railway Station (if time permits visit Nature Interpretation Centre at Rajabhatkhawa) after lunch – It is nearly 13 kilometers to Rajabhatkhawa – Next is approximately 180 kilometers to Siliguri – Forwarding Journey

Special features: This trek route is through the Reserve forest in Indian part of Bhutan Himalaya which helps you to understand the Birds, insects, plants, History, Culture, Buddhism and Wilderness. Santrabari or Santalabari, named after the Santola (Orange), is a weekly market (on Tuesday only) for exchanging and purchasing goods the local communities of Hills and foot hills. Buxa Fort still bears the witness of Indian Freedom movement in Pagsamkha or Buxa (Baksha) where the Heritage Post Office located on the highest point of Dooars. Lapchakha is the most beautiful village in Dooars also known Paradise of Dooars. Tashigang being a small village is placed in the International Bird Network list for its Bird population. Rovers’ Point and Rupang valley is already a popular trekking route to the Trekkers not only for the Panoramic view but also indifferent flora and fauna of Himalaya.

  • Breakfast: Roti Sabji /Puri-sabji /bread with butter & jam, boiled egg, tea / coffee, 
  • Lunch: Rice, Dal, Sabji, Egg (dbl) Curry, Salad (in Home stay), Maggi / Noodles / khichdi (Porridge), Omlet & Papad (During Trekking).
  • Dinner: Rice / Roti, vegetable, dal, papad, Chicken / Fish Curry, Dry sweets, Rice / khichdi (Porridge), Chicken, Pickels, Bengan / Potato Fry (During Trekking).
