Seven Sisters + Sikkim

Eight remote state of North East India offers visitors a fiesta with its magical richness; amazing diversity makes them a destination for all season. Arunachal Pradesh – Early riser, popularly known as the dawn lit mountains or land of the rising sun. It is a paradise for travelers exploring the treasures any time of the year except monsoon. The rich alluvial plains of the valley enjoy an abundance of natural riches. Meghalaya – Gentle hills interspersed with rich meadows, pine forest and the phenomenon of its traditional sacred forest that are steeped in spiritual belief and held in great veneration. The state is an embodiment of eternal bliss and tranquility wrapped in utter beauty. Meghalaya literally means Abode of Clouds and it acquires its charm from the picturesque locales, bountiful nature, fresh and sedating surroundings. Frequent drizzles with the exclusive flora and fauna and the cultural heritage of the locals make it a tourist paradise. It is also home to the unique carnivorous plant, the pitcher plant along with the Lady’s slipper, blue vandal and other rare orchids.  Caving is another past time of Meghalaya with nearly 780 caves many of them unmapped and unexplored. Major tourist destinations include Cherrapunjee, Garo Hills, Jaintia Hills, Jakrem, Jowai, Khasi Hills, Mawsynram, Monoliths in Khasi Hills. Other places of interest are Nongpoh, Nongstoin, Bajengdoba, Shillong, Tura, Mawphalang, Nartiang, Ranikor, Anoggre, etc. Nokrek, Balpakram, Siju and Nongkhyllem are well known national park.

Manipur – This princely state of Manipur is a jewel of a land with its bounteous vistas of untrammeled beauty and ancient traditions. This state is situated in an oval valley amongst smoky blue hills with its wondrous balance of the flora and fauna with nearly 70 percent of the state covered with forest. The brilliant combination of wet forests, temperate forests and pine forests sustains a host of rare endemic plant and animal life. Along with other animals the forest is home to rare hoolock, gibbon, the snow leopard, slow loris and the Sangai, the dancing deer. The state is known for its traditional art, weaving is a time honored occupation fine tuned to an art form. It is bordered by Myanmar (Burma) on one side and the rest by the Indian state of Nagaland, Assam and Mizoram. Major tourist destinations includes Andro, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Langthabal,  Kaina, Khongjom,  Koubru Leikha,  Keibul Lamjao National Park, Loukoipat, Loktak Lake, Mao, Moirang, Moreh,   Phubala, Red Hill (Maibam Lokpa Ching),   Singda, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal and Ukhrul

Mizoram – The people of Mizoram have a rich cultural heritage and are supposed to be the finest choir singers in the north east. Some of the most colorful aspect is their folk and community dances. Chapchar kut, Mim kut and Pawl kut are agricultural festival. Other festivals are Chai lam, Solakia, Cheraw, Khullam, Christmas and New Year which are celebrated with much funfair. Thawmngaihna is the code of ethics literally means that each citizen should be unselfish, hospitable and a Samaritan. Mizoram is a kaleidoscopic for the visitor with its wide array of festivals and dances, handicrafts and bamboo craft. The diversified flora and fauna, breathtaking natural beauty and temperate climate make it an important tourist hub. Highest peak of the state is Phawngpui called the Blue Mountain and is a trekker’s paradise but strictly for eco friendly tourist. Major tourist destinations include Aizawl, Champhai, Lunglei, Phawngpui, Saiha, Tamdil and Vantawang. The major wildlife centers are Dampa Sanctuary, Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary, Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary, Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary, Phawngpui National Park and Thorangtlang Wildlife Sanctuary

Nagaland – Nagaland shares border with Myanmar and the Indian state of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. Its blue hued mountains and emerald expanses comprise a world of ancient rituals, Morung in each village and hospitable people. Kohima, Dimapur and Mokokchung are the most important town. Out of the 32 major tribes, 16 are major each having their own distinct culture and lifestyle. Dense forest, pleasant climate, vast expanse of paddy field and the diversified wildlife makes this state a tourist destination. 90 percent of the people are Christian due to the influence of English missionaries. Major tourist destinations include Phek, Dzulekie, Dimapur, Dzukou Valley, Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung, Tuensang, Zunheboto, etc. Trekking is quite popular in Nagaland and Japfu Peak makes a great trek from November to March. Well known wildlife includes Fakim Sanctuary and Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary and Hoolock Baboon, Tiger, Mithun, Sambhar, wild dog, sloth bear, Tragopan pheasants are found in abundance. Khonoma, Kohima Village / Barra Basti, Pulie Bazde, Zoological Park, Ruzaphema, Dzukou valley are some of the most important tourist hub. 

Tripura – This ancient princely state of India is known for its natural setting and dazzling history. It is bordered by Bangladesh in three sides and the Indian state of Mizoram, Manipur and Assam. Verdant expanse and rich forested land are the main attraction of tourist. Rock cut carvings, historical places, stone sculptures, Buddhist and Hindu religion places, wildlife sanctuary are the other attractions of the state. Pleasant climate, ethnic villages, rich tribes, hills and valleys are all crowd puller. Low mountain ranges running northwest to southwest direction dissect the state. The elevation gradually increases from 100 feet to 3000 feet from southwest to northwest. This state is small with beautiful palaces, splendid rock carvings and stone images in different locations reflect the glimpse of the royal past. The state offers excellent opportunities for eco friendly tourism. Major tourist destinations includes Agartala, Bhavaneswari Temple, Deotamura, Dumboor Lake, Kamalasagar, Jampui Hill, Mahamuni, Neermahal, Pilak, Sepahijala, Tripura Govt. Museum, Tripurasundari Temple, Ujjayanta Palace, Unakoti, Udaipur, etc. Hoolock gibbon, golden Langur, Capped Langur, Bison, Migratory birds can be spotted in the state. Sipahijala and Trishna wildlife sanctuary is also worth visiting.

SikkimThe22nd State of India strategically located and is one of the last Himalayan `Shangri – La’. Its climate, intense natural beauty, mystic aura, colorful people and the cultural heritage attract tourist from all over the globe. Wide range of Orchids and varied species of butterflies are found at various altitudes and its remoteness, spectacular mountain terrain, varied flora – fauna, monasteries and the marvelous view of the Himalayan Range makes it a unique destination. The state has over 100 holy Monastery, Orchids, rhododendron, hot water spring, holy high altitude lakes, colorful butterflies, birds and a diversified range of fauna.  The state elevation ranges from 270 meters to 8589 meters from south to north. Singhalila range and Dongkhya range acts as barrier from the extreme cold from the Republic of China and Tibet Autonomous region. Teesta is the major tributary of Brahmaputra divides the state in two parts. There are few stunning trek routes like Green Lake and Dzongri. Major tourist Destinations includes Tsomgo, Lachen, Lachung, Yumthang, Pelling, Arhitar, Ravangla, Rinchenpong, Uttarey, Varsey, etc.
